The Industrial and Services Commercial Association of the State of Goiás (Acieg) launched the Central Brazil International Foreign Trade Fair (Ficomex) on Thursday (29). The fair, slated to be the largest foreign trade event in Brazil, spans 14,000 m2 and engages in negotiations with embassies from 48 countries. The event takes place from August 27th to 29th, 2024, at the Convention Center in Goiânia, with its official launch occurring at Acieg headquarters.

During the launch, the vice-governor of Goiás, Daniel Vilela, emphasized the significance of Goiás' partnerships for regional development. He cited the state's collaborations with Israel, Denmark, and France as notable examples, stressing the importance of establishing such connections for economic growth.

“We have to continue on this path, establishing these partnerships and events like this fair that will allow for a lot of exchange,” pointed out the vice-governor, highlighting the role of such initiatives in enhancing economic activity.

The strategic location of Goiás was mentioned by Daniel Vilela as a reason for hosting the fair in the state. This decision aims to facilitate access to the event for traders from other states. Additionally, a partnership was announced between Acieg and Correios, the fair's primary sponsor, during the launch.

The fair will host more than 160 exhibitors from various countries and engage in negotiations with 45 chambers of commerce. With lectures and workshops featuring experts, the event aims to promote and boost foreign trade in Goiás and the six other states of the Brasil Central Consortium. Ana Bastos, the vice-president of foreign trade at Acieg, explained that the fair will serve as a support point for embassies and chambers of commerce in these regions.

To fulfill its objectives, the fair plans to facilitate business rounds between Brazilian companies and those from other countries. It will also include lectures with renowned personalities and showcase stands featuring embassies and chambers. Currently, negotiations for additional partnerships for the fair are ongoing.
