Brazilian sugar exports total 2.179 million tons in March; more than 48% above the same period in 2023

According to the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex), Brazil exported 2.179 million tons of sugar and molasses in March (20 business days), accumulating revenue of over US$1.477 billion. This represents an increase of over 48% compared to March 2023.


Throughout last month, Brazil exported a total of 3.017 million tons of products related to the sugarcane industry. In contrast, in March 2023 (with 23 business days), exports of these products totaled 1.827 million tons, with total revenue reaching US$834.074 million.


Analyzing the daily average tonnage, sugar and molasses exports reached 135.960 thousand tons per day during the period, marking an increase of approximately 48.8% compared to the same period in 2023 (79.460 thousand tons per day). Furthermore, the prices of these shipments surged by over 19%, reaching a total of US$543.50 per ton.
