Brazil's 2024/25 soybean crop, which farmers will begin planting in September, could reach 171.54 million tons, up from 151.55 million tons harvested in the previous cycle, according to consultancy Safras & Mercado on Friday.

The consultancy stated that Brazilian soybean producers are expected to plant 1.9% more area in the new season, totaling 47.33 million hectares (116.9 million acres). This expansion is driven by favorable market conditions and expectations of continued strong demand from major importers like China.

Brazil's soybean sector continues to be a critical component of the global agricultural market, with the country maintaining its position as one of the world's top soybean exporters. The increased planting area reflects confidence in both domestic and international market stability, as well as advancements in agricultural technology and practices that support higher yields.

Additionally, the weather outlook for the planting season appears favorable, with predictions of regular rainfall patterns expected to support the growth and development of the new crop.

This projected increase in production aligns with Brazil's ongoing efforts to meet the rising global demand for soybeans, particularly from China, which has been a significant driver of export volumes in recent years.
