In February, Santa Catarina's exports increase by 3%, surpassing R$4 billion in total.

Santa Catarina experienced its third consecutive month of high exports, with sales abroad growing by 3% compared to February 2023, reaching US$848.8 million, approximately R$4 billion. Simultaneously, imports amounted to US$2.5 billion, roughly R$12.25 billion, marking a 14.9% increase in the same period.

The key sectors driving Santa Catarina's exports were pork (US$142.5 million) and poultry meat (US$142.5 million), followed by electric motors (US$54.4 million) and engine parts (US$45.9 million). Despite a decline in sales to China due to its real estate crisis and economic challenges, the diversification of export destinations contributed to the growth of animal protein exports.

Governor Jorginho Mello emphasized that this surge in exports showcases Santa Catarina's global strength and significant impact on the foreign market. He noted, "For every three chickens consumed worldwide, at least one comes from our state. Santa Catarina is increasingly present in global commerce, delivering quality products."

In February, the United States emerged as the primary destination for Santa Catarina's exports, accounting for US$138.7 million. China followed as the second main destination, with US$79.7 million, and Argentina ranked third with US$60.8 million in foreign sales.

Silvio Dreveck, the Secretary of the State Secretariat for Industry, Commerce, and Services, highlighted how the rise in exports enhances market dynamics, fostering greater competitiveness for Santa Catarina companies in foreign trade. He stated, "This increase represents more employment and income, showcasing technology and qualified labor. The State, under Governor Jorginho Mello's leadership, has spared no effort to invest in all sectors in Santa Catarina."
