Updated: Mar 24, 2024

The Paraíba International Business Center launched, last week, a foreign trade data panel, called ODEX, designed to disseminate information from the international market area, bringing important insights about the state and its international business.

The platform uses business intelligence technologies that enable various applications, such as, for example, the construction of commercial reports, statistical analyzes and academic research, expanding access to information about imports and exports from Paraíba in a simplified and transparent way.

“ODEX consolidates foreign trade data in an integrated way, providing a comprehensive view of the commercial panorama. We believe that it will not only meet the needs of industry users, but also be a valuable source for academic researchers. We are confident that the ODEX Panel will be an indispensable tool for those seeking to understand and contribute to the growth of the trade balance in the state of Paraíba”, highlighted the CIN/PB manager, Raquel Leite.

Aligned with the policy of the Integrated Foreign Trade System and the Single Foreign Trade Portal, Federal Government initiatives that seek to reduce bureaucracy and simplify import and export processes, ODEX was created in partnership with the Data Observatory team at Internationalization, extension project of the Information Technology Center at the Federal University of Paraíba – UFPB.

The professor, Gustavo Oliveira, who coordinates the project, explained that ODEX was born from a UFPB forum, which brought together representatives from offices and internationalization centers of higher education institutions in the state – including CIN Paraíba – and that , in conversation with the center, some needs were identified regarding the automation of data processing on foreign trade.

“Regarding the technical aspects, the panel has modern data visualization principles, created from a business intelligence platform and has a whole thought behind the usefulness of the interface and ease of navigation”, explained Gustavo Oliveira, adding that, in Within the scope of FIEPB and companies, this allows “much greater visibility on foreign trade activities, in all municipalities with all market segments, which facilitates strategic decision-making”.

Furthermore, the panel also serves the academic sphere, providing already processed data using graphs and information, facilitating access for students and researchers who need to retrieve them for research.

“Our role is to contribute to society and, mainly, from the place where we are, which is the university. So, it is always a pleasure to have recognition from our partners for the work we carry out, which aims, above all, at regional development”, concluded the professor and coordinator of the extension project that developed ODEX.
